2008 HERE WE COME!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

1Co 13:1-7
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have [the gift of] prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed [the poor], and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. Love is patient, love is kind, [and] is not jealous; love does not brag [and] is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong [suffered], does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Let these verses follow us as we enter a new year, dedicating ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Author and perfector of our faith! -- God bless you all.

My Absolute Favorite

My great-grandmother taught me how to make this, and it's got to be my favorite appetizer/dessert/fruit dish ever! It's so full of citrus fruits (and no skins at all; that's what makes it so good) it really just melts in your mouth! :)
Luk 10:21
At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I praise Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou didst hide these things from [the] wise and and intelligent and didst reveal them to babes. Yes, Father, for thus it was well-pleasing in Thy sight."

Cooking With My Little Sis

Yesterday my little sister Jenny (7) and I made some apple pies, mine to give to our neighbors as a 'thank you' gift, and Jenny's -- let's say for the learning experience! :)

And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Just Some Wonderful Verses

Psa 63:3-7
Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise Thee. So I will bless Thee as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy name. My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. When I remember Thee on my bed, I meditate on Thee in the night watches, For Thou hast been my help, And in the shadow of Thy wings I sing for joy.

Guess!

Anyone want to guess what the main ingredient in this is?! hehe, yes it's cream cheese! What can I say, it's Christmas, right? So one has to have a dessert that is everyone's favorite, you know. ;)
Psa 62:11-12
Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God; And lovingkindness is Thine, O Lord, For Thou dost recompense a man according to his work.

Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, ONE AND ALL!!!!

Luk 2:1-21
Now it came about in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And in the same region there were [some] shepherds staying out in the fields, and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. "And this [will be] a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, and lying in a manger." And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,"Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased." And it came about when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds [began] saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us." And they came in haste and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. And when they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them. And when eight days were completed before His circumcision, His name was [then] called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.

How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping [it] according to Thy word. With all my heart I have sought Thee; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments. Thy word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against Thee.

The Finishing Touches

What could be the finishing touch to that turkey and gravy? -- DRESSING!!!!!

Rom 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Giblet Gravy

This is our favorite gravy for that roasty turkey (pictured a few posts down). When it's about ready to be served I throw in some pepper balls to add the "finishing taste".

It's A German Thing

(Top) - just put on

Yes, this is a German thing; red cabbage, Granny Smith apples, cloves, and more of that sort of "yummy stuff"! My dad loves it when we fix it, and that happens only twice a year, Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Hos 12:6
Therefore, return to your God, Observe kindness and justice, And wait for your God continually.

Homemade Freezer Food

These were all "cooked up" to be put in the freezer for easy, yummy, homemade meals. Only God knew why I made all of these when I did, because a week later we had a family of 7 (with 5 little hungry children) staying at our house a few days. It was perfect timing for we used half of the 13 casseroles and pies when they were over! God is good!!!

Am I ready to start my own blog? No, not really, but I will anyway because I would love to share some pictures of different goodies that I make. God has blessed me very much, and through Him I would like to be able to bless others, at least with the things that every person needs every day - food!
