A Cup of Christmas Cheer

Just a little Christmas smoothie.
Luk 2:1-5
Now it came about in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register, along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child......

My Turkey...and Oliver's Dove

Yes, sorry for the delay in getting a picture of the Thanksgiving bird up, but here it is. Unfortunately this was the only picture we got of it. Also, that is a "yard dove" Oliver caught, so he got to eat his bird while we ate our turkey... haha, he did get turkey, too; that bird wasn't very "filling". ;)
Mal 2:6
"True instruction was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found on his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity."

Veggies and Some Preparations

Here I have a homemade Herb-broth which I took and mixed with a gallon of buttermilk and soaked the turkey in for 36 hours... and then our veggie "tray", the "dry" stuffing, and the beginnings of giblet gravy.

Pictures Are On Their Way!

"Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing, and gives being to all things that are; and, as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many, yea in some sort to our whole nation; let the glorious name of Jehovah have all the praise."

Feed Me O' Lord!

Mat 5:3-10
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

2Co 12:9-10
And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Bread of Life

2 Peter 1:3-12
.....seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of [the] divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in [your] moral excellence, knowledge; and in [your] knowledge, self-control, and in [your] self-control, perseverance, and in [your] perseverance, godliness; and in [your] godliness, brotherly kindness, and in [your] brotherly kindness, love.
For if these [qualities] are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For he who lacks these [qualities] is blind [or] short-sighted, having forgotten [his] purification from his former sins.
Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
Therefore, I shall always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you [already] know [them], and have been established in the truth which is present with [you].

Yet Another "Verse Post"

1Pe 2:18-25
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.
For this [finds] favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a man bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly.
For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer [for it] you patiently endure it, this [finds] favor with God.
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting [Himself] to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

Food For the Soul

I really need to get my camera out of my beach bag and put it back into the kitchen where it belongs! I don't have any pictures to post, and I feel as if it's been forever since I last put some up!.... oh well, so today food for the soul will take the place of food pics then! :)

Isa 40:21-31
Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?
It is He who sits above the vault of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
He [it is] who reduces rulers to nothing, Who makes the judges of the earth meaningless. Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely has their stock taken root in the earth, But He merely blows on them, and they wither, And the storm carries them away like stubble.
"To whom then will you liken Me That I should be [his] equal?" says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these [stars], The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of [His] power Not one [of them] is missing.
Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD, And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God "?
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, And to [him who] lacks might He increases power.
Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly,
Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up [with] wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Eph 5:1-2
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

1Th 4:7
For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.

1Jo 2:5-6
but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

Bring Out the Griddle!

Blueberry pancakes fresh off the griddle (boy, do I love that machine!!!).
Ecc 12:9-11
In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged many proverbs. The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly. The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of [these] collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd.

Baking For Vacation

I baked three of these monsters the other day to bring along on our vacation! (oatmeal and flax seed bread) :) .... And saying that, there may not be a whole lot posted the next two weeks because we'll be out of town.
Jos 1:8-9
"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Our Sunday's Breakfast

This is what every Sunday breakfast consists of in our's almost like "tradition" to have cinnamon rolls for every breakfast, because we've done it for as long as I can remember....!

Sunday Picnic!

We had the best Sunday picnic after church that I think I've ever had! (well, considdering I can't even remember the last time I'd ever been on a picnic, it's been that long...) :)
It was beautiful weather, great fellowship, and of-course good food as well.... unfortunately I didn't get pictures of everything.... But, Lord willing there will be a next time!
Mal 2:5-7
"My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him as an object of reverence; so he revered Me, and stood in awe of My name. True instruction was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found on his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity. For the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts."

Homemade Blackberry Frozen Yogurt

Next time you crave some ice cream, try some fresh homemade frozen yogurt instead! My dad loves it and it's quick, easy, inexpensive as ever, and is much healthier than the stuff you buy at Publix in the ice cream section! (p.s. course, having a Vita-Mix is the key to it!)
Joh 16:30-31
"Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God."
Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe?"

These are my home-made enchiladas. I created the recipe myself and everyone at our table really liked it.... now all I have to do is remember what I put in it so I can make it again!... ooh! ;)
1Pet 3:3-4
And let not your adornment be merely external-- braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
